Synapse reimagines the traditional educational environment by translating the brain’s cognitive processes into a tangible, explorable landscape. Drawing on the VARK model—Visual, Auditory, Reading/Writing, and Kinaesthetic—the space is conceived not as a conventional classroom, but as a vibrant play centre where learning is embedded in movement and interaction.
The architectural heart of the project is a network of bridges spanning the void at the site’s core. Just as a synapse transfers signals between neurons to create thought, these bridges provide both a physical route and a metaphorical link, connecting different learning styles within the space. Moving across the bridges symbolises the blending of sensory experiences, as children journey between visually, auditorily, textually, and kinaesthetically rich environments.
